The National Certificate: Vocational or NCV is an alternative option and equivalent to a Matric Certificate (NQF4 without exemption) in South Africa. Programs are aimed at developing students in a certain specialization with practical skills and knowledge that leads to a strong career pathway. Offered at Levels 2, 3 and 4 of the National Qualifications’ Frame Work (NQF Levels by SAQA) which are equivalent to Grades 10, 11 and 12. The NCV is a great South African alternative to the GED for a more neuro-affirming way to get your matric and enter the workplace or get access to higher education and tertiary studies.
What is the difference between the NSC and the NCV?
A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or matric certificate offers students a general education with a greater emphasis on the academic aspects of preparing them for the workforce. In contrast, a National Certificate: Vocational (NCV) concentrates on developing skills in particular vocational fields.
How does the NCV work?
Integrates theoretical studies with hands-on workplace experience.
Enhances students' expertise and understanding in a selected field.
Equips students for further education and tertiary studies.
Prerequisite: grade 9 (or equivalent).
After completing Grade 9, students have the option to advance to do their NCV Levels 2 through 4.
On completion of the National Certificate Vocational one may look for a job or apply to a university or college to further one’s studies as follows:
Apply to a College or Tertiary Institution that accepts the NCV.
Do a Higher Certificate program at NQF Level 5 as a bridging course.
Then proceed to your 1st year of degree studies at your preferred University.
NCV Entrepreneur Program by Hybrid Academy
The NCV Entrepreneur Program from Hybrid Academy is a QTCO accredited NQF4 (without exemption) equivalent qualification that is recognized by SAQA and USAf in South Africa.
This is a NQF4 National Certificate Vocational qualification and the course follows the South African School Terms yearly calendar and is completed in one academic year.
This is the most affordable and popular option amongst their students. There are term modules, with no formal exams but instead with 4 Term Virtual Assessments and one final end of the year external open book Assessment only.
It requires the student to study 3-4 hours per day using an online learning program that includes virtual support.
The qualification is recognized for further studies at all South African Colleges and Universities and accepted in the workplaces as equivalent to a South African Matric.
Hybrid Academy is registered with QCTO and offers NQF 4 and 5 National Certificate Vocational / Occupational Programs to learners as a South African Matric equivalency.
