Homeschooling is a beautiful and gentle way to create a specialized, self-paced, asynchronous, child-centred, delight-directed, rich learning environment where you teach your neurodivergent children in the way they learn.
There are 4 pathways to a matric qualification (school exit) in South Africa available for Homeschoolers. Children have different needs and you need to choose the best fit for your child.
As a parent you may struggle to know how to support and accommodate your child in this area. I have compiled a list of resources that I am aware of but I am always looking for more.
Matric Pathways in South Africa
There are 3 Matric Pathways available to homeschoolers in South Africa and there are 4 school exits or school leaving certificates that are acknowledged in South Africa by SAQA, USAf and our tertiary institutions:
1. SA (CAPS) Curriculum:
- NSC/IEB/Vocational/Adult Matric
2. US Curriculum:
- GED or the
- American High School Diploma
3. UK Curriculum:
- Cambridge/Edexcel
